8 Easy DIY Scrub Recipes For Healthy Skin

Humans are well known for learning things the hard way. There came a period when scientific research and advancement took place on a massive scale. Scientists were indulged in devising new and effective methods that would yield optimal results. It was only after experimenting with those unnatural ways that people soon realized were wrong and reverted to the old, tried and tested methods.

The same can be said about skincare and beauty products. Natural skincare has been in use by men and women since thousands of years ago. Queen Cleopatra of Egypt is known for being the pioneer in the field of skincare and beauty products. Similarly, milk baths of the Baroque era are famous for their beauty yielding benefits and use of Yucca extract by Native Americans in olden times for healthy hair growth are still talked about.

Store-bought skincare products

Skincare becomes utmost important as soon as people cross the age of 30. Aging dulls and damages the skin with fine lines and wrinkles emerging at sensitive points. Going an extra mile and following a proper skincare regime can slow aging, brighten skin and yield a spotless look.

If you observe, you would notice how greatly the skincare industry is flourishing. There are devoted sections in almost all departmental stores housing a myriad of skincare products boasting to be the most effective. After every few months, we get to know about a certain newly launched brand which is said to have amazingly beneficial skincare products.

The cosmeticians know how people are crazy after having the perfect skin and if they play their cards correctly, they can easily win a good number of loyal customers.

Are store-bought skin care products good?

There is no denying that store shelves filled with skincare products make a difference to your skin. This is what makes this industry flourish. These products are made after years of scientific study and research. Cosmeticians aim to bring you products that are full of beneficial ingredients and can stay at your shelves for a longer period.

Like almost everything that is packed with unnatural components, these skincare products also come with their share of setbacks. With natural products you are always sure things cannot go wrong.

DIY Vs Store-bought skincare products

Over the years science has also agreed that natural skin care methods were more beneficial and less damaging. Some of these natural ways include colloidal oatmeal and Aloe Vera for dermatitis, green tea niacinamide for acne and rosacea, and licorice, green tea, and acai berry for hyperpigmentation.

There are many reasons why homemade skincare products are better than store bought ones. Let us discuss a few here.

  • Generalized products

We agree that everyone has a different type of skin which requires a different skincare regime and products. You might be having oily skin whereas your friend might be having combination skin. All skin types cannot be treated with the same product. This is why something that suits you doesn’t quite give out the same results on your friend.

When you follow a certain recipe to make skincare products yourself, you do this keeping in mind the list of ingredients and how each of them might affect your skin. For example, egg whites are good for oily hair whereas they turn normal hair frizzy. With DIY products, you can come up with something that is jam-packed with ingredients that target your skin and its issues.

  • Commercial products

Many store-bought products claim to be full of natural ingredients. In reality, these products only contain a very small amount of such beneficial ingredients. They are replaced in quantity by unnatural ingredients which are not very expensive and promise a good profit margin. With DIY products, you know how much and which ingredients are being added to the product. Also, you will always choose the best quality of the ingredients.

  • Environment-Friendly

Store-bought products are not only harmful to your skin to a certain limit but also threatening for the environment. Foaming agents, chemicals and petroleum by-products that are flushed down the drain are extremely hazardous to the environment, water, and marine life.

With DIY products, the ingredients are safe for the environment and marine life. Also, the bottles and containers can be reused which reduces plastic pollution.
